Project Overview:

Under the Rojagar Evam Swasthya Adhikar Pariyojana , Swabhiman Samiti (SS) has covered 29 villages of 12 gram Panchayat in districts of Kushinagar and Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh on Livelihood and Health. SS has formed 29 Mahila Sanghars Manch to raise their voice at GP, Block, and district levels. Under this project, SS has made 1832 Job cards. More than 3000 women are engaged in MNREGA jobs, and 518 women have benefited under Janani Suraksha Yojana. Swabhiman Samiti is also engaged in routine immunization.

Budget and Time Period:

The Rojagar Evam Swasthya Adhikar Pariyojana had a total cost of Rs. 2,55,435. which was fully funded by PACS. The program was implemented between 1 jauvry 2015 to 31 jaubary 2016.

Objectives:

The main objectives of the project are:

  • Formation and capacity building of community-based organizations (CBOs) to prepare village-level action plans for promoting livelihood and health rights for socially excluded groups.
  • Encouraging the participation of socially excluded group members in village committees and building their capacity to take up advocacy at Panchayat and Gram Sabha levels.
  • Linkages and liaison building with government department officials at various levels for better implementation of schemes.
  • Right-based advocacy to ensure access to livelihood and health services for socially excluded groups.
Activities:

Under the Rojagar Evam Swasthya Adhikar Pariyojana, the following activities have been undertaken:

  • Formation and capacity building of community-based organizations (CBOs): CBOs have been formed in each village, and their capacity has been built to prepare village-level action plans for the project.
  • Encouraging participation of socially excluded group members in village committees: Members of socially excluded groups have been encouraged to participate in village committees and build their capacity to advocate for their rights.
  • Linkages and liaison building with government department officials: The project team has established linkages and built liaison with government department officials at various levels to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
  • Right-based advocacy: Advocacy has been conducted to ensure the livelihood rights and health services for socially excluded groups.

The project was implemented through a community-driven approach. CBOs were formed and strengthened to prepare and implement village-level action plans for promoting livelihood and health rights. The CBOs were trained on various aspects of the MGNREGA and the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY), including the process of applying for schemes, entitlements, and accessing benefits. The project also focused on increasing access to institutional delivery and ensuring full benefits under Janani Suraksha Yojna.
